Maschine Monday – “Mad Props” Instrumental Remake

I saw Damu remaking this beat and wanted to have a go for fun. I originally remade this beat on my MPC 2000xl, but now I am rocking the Maschine I recreated it for learning purposes.

The drums are a different break than the originals and I left out the scratching as cutting it up on Serato is not the same as having the vinyl (LL Cool J – Jack The Ripper).

What’s up!

So besides all the scratching, some of you may know that I make beats. Beats for scratch practice, sure, but also hip hop beats for a wider use. I know a lot of DJs that produce beats in addition to scratching. It provides a good balance when you need a break from the scratch!

With that in mind I recently sold my trusty MPC 2000xl and got a Maschine and have been getting into it

I thought I would share some progress and a video so you can see what the deal is. Hope you enjoy it!

This is a short film/music video I made in support of an instrumental album I’m working on called “Beat Freak”. The joint is called “Believe”. I made this at a time when I needed to believe in myself and find my inner strength.I’m sure a lot of you have been down that road… So it was a trip when I heard this sample and my frame of mind during that moment: It just lined up. Like it was delivered to me… What came out in the process, and the “feel of the beat”-It was a perfect translation… anyway, sorry for the sob story…I love makin beats .please enjoy:)

Today is the 4th anniversary of J Dilla’s passing. One of my fav producers EVER.
