What’s up everyone.

Studio Scratches is getting to the point now where I get asked many daily questions about scratching and equipment, often the same questions via email, YouTube and comments.

So to benefit everyone I have created a new category here on the site called “Ask Short-e”.

Whenever someone asks me a question via the site, email or the Studio Scratches YouTube channel, I will answer it publicly so you can all get the scratch knowledge but you can also add your info in the comments so we can build up a great library of info and answers for all scratch DJs worldwide.

If you have questions just shoot me an email using the contact page or reply to this post in the comments.

Happy Scratching!

Hey Short-e ive watch your videos a million times and you are crazy good. Ive been djing almost 2 years now and want to become better at scratching. I do mixes cause I want to work at a radio station and be an on air mixer. Whenever you have time I’d like you to check out my mix and tell me what kind of other scratches I can do when mixing in the next song and whatever other pointers you have. Thank You

Thanks Jeremy. The best thing to do is check out my Scratch Tutorials section for the tecniques here:

http://www.studioscratches.com/scratch-tutorials/

When scratching in a mix it should never be just for the sake of it. I tend to keep it light and only scratch if there is space in the track and will add something to it.

Most common techniques are to scratch the kick or snare of the track you are going to drop next. If you have an acapella of the next track too that could work.

Most importantly experiment and have fun!

Anyone else got anything to add?

Happy Scratching!
